Same Material Contest
I am so excited to be the Grand Prize Winner of The Same Material Contest, which is one of many held by MSATMiniDolls Group. The list owner is Dana Burton. Each member who participated in the contest had two choices of fabric to chose from, either raw silk, or leopard print fur. I was one of the fortunate members who received the leopard print fur through Dana's RAK program.
The coat, muff and gloves were made from black velvet fabric and trimmed with the leopard print fur. The coat and muff are fully linned with black china silk fabric. The hat and purse were made from the leopard print fur. I trimmed the hat's brim with black double scroll braid and accented the purse with a Filigree "Crown" Finding and a very tiny gold plated chain.
The coat, hat and muff pattern are by La Petite Belle. The purse and golves pattern are by Sue Atkinson. The China silk was purchased from Tayna's Mini Dolls and Fabrics. The finding and trims were purchased from Michelle Mahler of Doll Artist's Workshop.
A big "Thank You" to Dana, Marilyn and everyone who make the RAK program and contests possible!!!

RAK Doll Completed I did it... I actually completed my RAK doll! A Big Thank You to everyone for all the nice comments and words of encouragement. I've added an updated picture of the finished doll. A Wonderful Day! Well...what can I say... I've had the most wonderful day ever! I was fortunate enough to win one of Brad Deville's baby kittys during a MSATMiniDoll List answer and question session, where Mr. Deville was the guest speaker. Later this evening, I won a book written by Cheri Desiree - How to Make Ooak Iridescent Fairy Wings, plus supplies during the MSATMiniDoll List bingo game at the possee meeting! Two great miniaturists/artists indeed! Their work is so breathtaking and incredible that it's unbelievable! Whenever you have a spare moment or two perhaps you should check out their sites, as I'm sure you'll be happy you did. As for the moment... I can hardly wait for my prizes to arrive. My thanks to Dana and Moonyeen for the invitation :) "Pictures Coming Soon"
Hi, my name is Emma. From a very young age I had a strong desire to create. I remember things like making furniture out of cardboard, sketching pictures of clothes, making clothes for my dolls and of-course... decorating my dollhouse. Later I learned to sew, crochet and knit in RL scale.
Still trying to fill that burning desire, I registered for, and completed two classes that were being offered in my neighborhood. One was a macrame' class and the other was an upholstery class that was geared towards teaching the students how to upholster, repair and refinish furniture.
Years later (May/2001) on our anniversary, my husband purchased a dollhouse for me at my request. It was "The House that Jack Built" and the rest was history... I had discovered The World of Miniatures and I was hooked!
I went on to purchase two more dollhouses, several shops and a large display box. I learned to make miniature food and clothes. I wired and decorated my dollhouse and participated in swaps with several miniature groups with wonderful members and friends (which I still enjoy to this day), but still something was missing...
Finally I decided to join MSATMiniDoll List - owned by Dana Burton, and I couldn't have been happier! I soon receiced the most beautiful RAK doll to my suprise! After months and months of procastinating I decided to take it out of the box and attempt to dress it... see picture above. When I showed it to my daughter she stated that the hair looked like a hat, so I ripped it back off (left -bottom photo). I'm now in the process of giving it another try. I now need to drape the dress, tack the dress in place; which is presently being held up with a pin, add a bit more fullness to the under-slip, redo the hair and add more accessories. I haven't any doubt what-so-ever that I will eventually occomplish this goal, because the MSATMiniDoll List Team the best! Everyone is so friendly, sharing and quick to jump right in to assist with any questions posted either to the list, or asked in chat.
My present goal is to learn how to dress and wig dolls... and I'm well on my way as you can see :) Another goal is to learn to crochet in 1:12 scale thanks to a dear friend name Sol who's beautiful work of art inspired to give it a try ;) What's even better... is that I finally filled that burning desire and found what I was searching for all these years. Please keep in mind that I'm new to the world of miniature dolls. Hopefully you'll be able to watch me grow.
Thanks for Listening, and...
Welcome to my world!
